By Claudine Hodges

Bars are social animals with intelligence. They are more intelligent than the apes. They also share the same resources, security and friendship. They are not unpredictable and dangerous as what most media shows have shared to their viewers. They also have predictable behaviors. Most of these traits are beneficial, especially for human beings who love to watch them.

They are usually found in cold continents. That is why, Viewing these animals has become a popular recreational activity in different national parks. However, there are things that should be considered and certain things to avoid during Juneau bear viewing. Actually, there are different species of bears present in different parts of the world.

Mostly, bears are curious, intelligent and considered as dangerous animals. However, if you respect them and have understood their behavior, you can also encounter them without any harm. Bear viewing is actually not a harmful recreational activity, when done carefully. You just have to focus on the guidelines, with the help of your tour guides, since they know these animals well more than you do. They can also handle any situations that may occur.

If you encounter with a bear, you should stay calm and stand on the ground even they approaches. You should not run away from them. Doing so will only encourage them to keep chasing on you. If not, you have to slowly walk backward and give them the space or access to its fishing trails and holes. You should avoid giving them food and keep your personal possessions with you. You can use your binocular lenses but do not stalk them closely.

Cubs also wait for some cues from their parents. It means that if people behave responsibly, the generations of these animals will also return to the same spots year after year for bear viewing opportunities. There are also some of them that are tolerant than the others, but every one of them has their own personal space once they feel threatened.

Therefore, you should reduce disturbance to their natural habitats. You need to respect their space. You also have to make sure that they will experience predictable behaviors from humans. Pick a particular spot near the actions and let them come to you.

You have to keep in mind that surprising them is not an ideal move to make during the viewing activity, as it can also lead to accidents and problems. You also have to avoid making some noises and attracting with garbage and food. If they are near you, you should stay calm and do not run. In some cases, these animals are not considered as threats. But, they also need your respect and attention.
