The Incredible Collection Of Lacey Dancer

By Rachael Gutierrez

Among the accomplished American romantic novelists is Lacey Dancer who was born in 1948. Her specialization is the historical and contemporary romance which she has written for decades. Over this time, the novels have been published in three other names which are Sydney Ann Clary, Sara Chance and Carr Sherry. Her writing career began in 1983 and has been on the run ever since.

With a growing reputation, Lacey has won a number of awards including Romantic Times Career Achievement that was awarded to her between the year 1991 and 1992. This was for a series of novels she had written under the name Romance Love and Laughter. The second award from Romantic Times came in 1996. This was under the Career Achievement category for the series titled Romantic Adventure.

Romantic Times describe her work in a way that portrays a writer of great achievement. Her writing is said to be dazzling and richly intense. The characters in her stories are fascinating in such a way as to capture the imagination and attention of readers to the end. The verdict delivered by editors depicts her as imaginative and creative. This results in distinct and irresistible story lines.

Her original work was published by Meteor in a romantic series called Kismet. This series had been running for years. The last series in collections delivered by Meteor was Pippa and would be the last before the company closed business. This was a turning point for a writer who previously had no trouble publishing.

It was difficult for Dancer to deal with the closure of Meteor in the middle of her writing career. One of the challenges was finding a publisher for Many Faces of Love, a novel that was in line. The closure left the title orphaned. Meteor had not published it by the time they closed shops.

The challenge of not having a publisher presented Dancer with an opportunity to create her own publishing company. Her difficulty was finding a publisher for a Romance author who was over 40 years old. That age was not common in the genre of romance which made it very challenging for her. The company that she formed was called Clear Ice Publishing. This company managed to release her novel to masses in the form of paperback. It is considered as redemption to her writing career.

Between 1983 and 1989, she released several titles under the name Sara Chance. They were in the series referred to as Southern Comfort while the rest were single novels. Some of the books include Her Golden Eyes, Fire in the Night and Double Solitaire. Under the series Southern Comfort, three books were released in the two years of 1988 and 1989.

As Sydney Ann Clary, Lacey Dancer wrote three single novels titled Misfit Match, Undercover Affair and The Duchess and the Devil. It is in the 1990s and beyond that she started writing under her real name. She produced ten novels and the St. James saga as a series. Her latest work was published in 2003 under the name Many Faces of Love. Over thirty books are credited to her.
