Tips On How To Write A Book

By Rebecca Long

Writing is not the kind of passion that comes to everyone. So, you are advised to make the most out of your gift. The hardest part is just in the beginning. Once you have gone past the fear, you can already follow the tips below. There would be a lot of trials but you can soon surpass all of them.

Do not pressure yourself into writing a whole chapter in a day. The road to how to write a book must be in a smooth flow and a smaller quantity of words will be a good place to start. Thus, set at three hundred words or until you run out of ideas. Train yourself for you to be able to rely on your own skills when your editor is not around.

Create an outline even if your ideas are still vague right now. Again, order is very important if you want to come up with something definite for your story. Start with your preliminary concept. Then proceed to the climax. Most importantly, decide on whether the end will be happy one or not.

Be consistent with the time for your work. This would help you keep up with your deadlines once you are already a professional. Pick up the hours when you feel most productive. If these are in the wee hours of the morning, so be it. This is one of the perks which you could get as a freelance writer.

You must make certain that your writing spot is a secure one. Just like any other art in this world, you must not allow your work to be criticized when it is halfway done. This will only make you confused with the flow of your concept and you could end up getting the idea of other people.

Settle for a word count which you will be able to handle. This can bring uniformity to all of your chapters. Your future editor will be pleased since it seems that you already have everything figured out. There are just some small changes that are needed to be done on the manuscript and you can already be part of the team.

Have deadlines every week. This is already on your personal progress. As a writer, the greatest enemy you have is your laziness. If you would not put enough pressure on yourself, you shall start to treat your job for granted thinking that you still have more time to finish your chapters.

You must welcome constructive criticism with open arms. However, find something to do while you are still waiting for the feedback. You can start conceptualizing again or you can decide to go out and be exposed to the actual world once again.

Do not let your first draft stay with you for too long. You are still going to be rejected one way or another. So, the best thing for you to do is get on with it and start again for you to know how you can get better as a writer.
