Guide To Stone Ridge Bed And Breakfast

By Lila Bryant

The demand for guest houses has grown. B&Bs are no longer seen as a low-budget tourist accommodation but as an attractive alternative to the usual hotel or motel room. There are Stone Ridge bed and breakfast establishments that offer amenities which are not inferior to the most luxurious lodgings. The term B&B has become globally recognized. A B&B with more than seven rooms is more like a guest house or hotel. It is difficult to be operated by one or two people and staff will need to be hired.

Market research (2006 and 2007) shows that the shift from small scale lies with the provision of seven rooms. In other European countries, a limit of seven rooms is very common. A B&B is not comparable to a hotel or guest house in terms of activity, size and scale. The main purpose of such a property is small-scale provision of accommodation. This is unlike a motel or hotel whose main objective is the provision of meals and/or beverages for consumption on the premises.

The middle class were then used to staying at these facilities during summer. Farmers sometimes offered them accommodation and access to catering services. This type of accommodation became more popular as the years went by, but was mainly developed around the second half of the twentieth century and especially from 1960 when the supply of rural accommodation was complemented by a host of tourist activities.

On their travels they sought conducive accommodation in houses and inns. Some of these historic homes still do use the term B&B. During the Great Depression, many people opened their homes for travelers to earn extra income for the family. With the advent of highways, motels emerged and B&Bs disappeared into the background.

Some owners choose to join marketing bodies, other homeowners choose to make their rooms directly available to the public and the Internet has made things easier. The rooms are subject to a price for one night and breakfast is included, it is a bundled service. Breakfast is taken together in the dining room or family kitchen. Other meals may also be included (mainly at night - dinner), but at most a flat fee is requested. The dining table has a strong guest friendly feel to it. It allows you to chat with the owners and other residents around mostly regional dishes.

The guest must comply with specific rules for the activity. The main ones are the following: be located in a home inhabited by the owners, be rented per night with breakfast, be accompanied by benefits including at least the provision of linen, have access to a toilet and a shower room and observe all health, safety and sanitation requirements.

That is not to say that no high standard of accommodation is offered. There are various degrees ranging from very simple to very luxurious night stay. It is up to the owners of a guest house to decide whether they want classification or not. The distinction between B&B and hotel is based on the number of beds.

In some regions, from 15 rentable beds an establishment automatically qualifies for a hotel and it falls under an entirely different set of rules. The total number of beds in a cottage does not count. It is in this case a cheap self-service option. A guest who after paying with his credit card at the reception area can gain access to a room.
