Things To Include In Emergency Survival Kits

By Susan Carter

Everyone needs to be prepared for unforeseen situations that can happen to anyone in this world. There are things that can make someone vacate his or her house immediately and may only have time to pick one thing, and this one thing should be emergency survival kits which each and every person in a family should know where it is located. The kit may include the following.

The most essential thing is a first aid box which should consist of all the needed item to perform any aid to an injured person. This will be really helpful because people may get injured in a fire or if an earthquake happens and may not be able to access a hospital. This will help in saving the life of the people until they can access a medical facility to receive treatment, so this is one thing that one should never forget to pack.

Water is a very important thing in every living thing, may it be animals or human beings. So it is recommended for one to include several liters of water that would at least last for four days. Water may be used for drinking, washing or cleaning wounds that can be as a result of the crisis.

Some people live with the help of specific medication due to the diseases they may be having so it is recommended to pack all the medicines that any family member takes on a daily basis. Inhalers should not be forgotten either if there is an asthmatic person in the family. Almost every medicine has its expiry date so it would be a good idea to check if they have expired and replace them with the most recent medication.

Another thing that one is not supposed to forget is a matchbox or anything that can be used to light fire. This is because of the importance of fire in human being day to day life, it is impossible to live without the use of fire. It is used to scare wild animals that may harm human beings in the forest or used to cook and keeping people warm especially at night where there is a lot of colds.

Food is also an essential thing that one cannot do without it. Packing some foodstuffs is recommended, this may include nonperishable food that will last for long, it should be easy and fast to cook because of the time and fire limitation. The food should be enough to last for at least four days until any help is offered by people around or by the government concerned.

Cutlery is also an important thing to pack in the emergency survival kit. This includes a knife that will be used for many purposes. In case of attack from an enemy it may be used for defense, it can also be used to prepare food. People may also make small shelter houses which need knives to cut tree stalks that are very useful in making a house made of leaves or grass.

Clothes are also important, so it is advisable for one to have some essential clothes packed for each and every member of the family. This will help if the clothes have been torn or are extremely dirty due to the struggles brought about by the crises. It would be advisable to pack warm clothes to be warm at night.
