How To Come Up With A True Crime Novel

By Martha Burns

Crime is something that happens everywhere. Not even a single state can stand to say that they do not experience violence every day. It is part of nature since the start of the world. As a result, crime movies, stories, pictures, studies, and games are widespread in all cycles of the world. However, an author can make a true crime novel more popular if they add some bloody and horrible scenes in the novel.

You need to understand that there are different sections of novels. It does not matter if you want to focus on criminal happenings or other different scenarios. Understanding what you want is crucial. Thus decide if you will want to rely on existent characters and occurrences or you will base on things and people who were never involved in a crime but can add up to making your story live.

After determining the type of story you want to write, gather information about everything you are going to include in the story. Thus, one must find effective methods to gather data. However, it must focus on criminal issues to ensure that you stick to the same topics. Primary and secondary sources of information can be helpful in your search. Also, ensure that you get popular and essential data.

With the composed data, one may proceed with research activities. They are important in determining the truth about the data and finding more details about them. You do not have to create a story about something that you are not sure. Research helps to build confidence in readers that they are reading the right and legal materials.

It is advisable for one to have a draft of the story before producing the crime novel. Although it may consume you some time and money, you cannot ignore their benefits. They are worth seeing simple mistakes and providing missing facts. Also, you can keep them for references in case you lose the novel in the future. However, let everything that will be in the book is included in the draft to make it quick for you to type the stories.

Choose an appropriate theme for the story. The subject is mostly based on what the story entails. Also, a good theme should clearly and precisely show what you want to emphasize at the end of the crime story. Thus, it can depict violence, friendship, humor, and friendship. But you need to be free to write what first comes to your mind and they may be two or more subjects.

Do not forget to include a title in the novel. This is what guide readers on what to expect in the whole story. Additionally, the heading should be written before the body. Some author will write titles that do not relate in any way with the rest of the story. This kills the expectation of a reader. Hence, be keen to come up with a catchy and suitable title.

Include a chronological outline of the chapters. They have to match the sequence of the story so that people can get to know what follows after the other. Also, neat and edited work makes your book appealing and worth reading. No one will be comfortable to read a book with countless writing mistakes. So whenever you intend to engage in such creative writing, ensure to keep these aspects into consideration.
