Enjoy A Special Vacation With Fraser Valley Tours

By John Stewart

Some people try to fill every day of their vacation with as much activity as possible. They don't want to miss a thing and are willing to bake in the sun and spend hours waiting in line to go on popular theme park rides. Others prefer to relax on their time off. These individuals would rather enjoy activities at a slower pace and take advantage of the days they have to really see one or two attractions the areas they are visiting have to offer. Fraser Valley tours can help vacationers do just that.

There are many sights to see and interesting things to do in this region of British Columbia. Some of the most stunning scenery is found in Cascade Falls Regional Park. The huge waterfall is the main attraction, but there are numerous other falls that are wonderful sights. Visitors to the falls will walk through a forest full of hemlock and cedar trees. The trail leading up to Cascade is fairly steep and can be muddy and slippery.

Fraser Canyon is another sight to behold. The Fraser River, with its strong current and fast moving water rushing between the canyon walls, creates spectacular scenery that is visible from the gondolas suspended over the river. This is the area early explorers dubbed "Hell's Gate". From the suspension bridge that spans the river, you can also observe the gorges that cut through the mountains.

Coquihalla Canyon is another sight visitors should take in. This terrain is flat which makes walking much easier, especially for children and older individuals. People find it a peaceful and quiet oasis where they can experience the wonders of the Othello railway tunnels. It is not unusual for crews to be in the area filming movies. Many enjoy hiking and biking excursions here as well.

For a completely different experience, you should definitely tour Westminster Abbey in Mission. The Benedictine monks who call this place home will be happy to greet you during visiting hours, but these times are limited so you will want to check before you go. The views of the valley are spectacular and should not be missed.

The Fort Langley historic site will take you back in time when settlers traded furs for other goods and supplies and lived in remote villages. Mostly reconstructed, the site offers visitors tours of houses, shops and businesses recreated with precision and accuracy. You can get a real sense of what life was like for the first settlers to the region.

People who love old trains and train depots will be interested in the CN Station Museum located in Fort Langley. You will be able to tour an early twentieth century caboose with the original furnishings and take a look at an old velocipede, a vehicle that eventually became the bicycle. The station houses an interesting art gallery and museum.

There are many beautiful places to see and interesting things to do in British Columbia. You shouldn't miss any opportunity to experience the region for yourself.
