Sylvan Lake is famous for its green parks, beautiful lakes. The town is located in Central Alberta, around 25 km west of Red Deer city. There's a long freshwater lake named Sylvan Lake. Tourists who visit Sylvan Lake are attracted by the fun activities on the lake.

What To Do For Tourists In Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake offers various fun activities at any time of the year. In summer there are endless water sports to enjoy. In winter you can do ice fishing, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and many more! If you're a golf lover, make sure to play a few rounds of golf. Sylvan Lake has some very gorgeous golf courses such as the Meadowlands Golf Club, Top O' the Hill Golf Course.

With relatively cold and snowy winters, cool springs and mild summers, the climate in Sylvan Lake is said to be climate. It has average temperature of about 14.6 degrees in winter and 15.7 degrees in summer. It rains about 398.3 millimetres or 15.68 inches and snows approximately 158.2 centimetres every year.

The population of 13,327 people makes it one of the most populous towns in the province in 2013. Young people (19 years old or under) occupy 33.2% and the retired are about 6.7%. Hence, the city has quite young population.

It does not only have one local newspaper named Sylvan Lake News but also gets newspaper from nearby Red Deer. This may be helpful for those keen on catching up with the daily affairs. Although Sylvan Lake hasn't had a broadcast television station yet, it can receive broadcast news from Edmonton through the three big channels. Its people can still be updated with the signals from Red Deer.
