Kensington For The First Time Vacationers

Kensington is among the most busy aspects of London. It has several shopping centers, restaurants, museums, and clubs than you can shake a stick at. And that's why, first-time visitor, you should think about reserving at the Kensington hotels for the Year. You'll be at the center of every thing. If you're seeking a patch of green around the hustle and bustle of the city, it's easy to visit Kensington Gardens or Hyde Park.

Since you're visiting Kensington for the first time, one of the first things you should do is to choose which of the many Kensington hotels is perfect for your lodgings. Kensington is one of the more affluent districts in London (and in the UK), so expect that Kensington hotels are rather pricey. Cheap lodgings are available as well.

Kensington can be stressful, however don't worry if you don't know which areas to see first. We're providing a list of areas in Kensington you should visit while you're there. Read on and print our list, consult your map, and off you go!

1) Kensington Palace - The official home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (among other royals) and a certified royal palace. It's a 17th century structure chockfull of secret and lore. Parts of the Kensington Palace are open to the public. Even if you're not a history buff or an architecture lover, you must nonetheless visit Kensington Palace if only to learn its natural beauty and magnificence.

2) The Royal Albert Hall - The Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences is one of the most prominent concert and exhibit halls in the UK. Queen Victoria dedicated this (as well as the Albert Memorial) to her deceased husband. The Royal Albert Hall hosts an average of 350 events each year. Some of its regular shows include the BBC Proms and the Cirque de Soleil; several high profile films also hold their premieres here. Even if there's no show, you should still check out the magnificent classical architecture.

3) Kensington High Street - The center of the area and place to a number of Kensington hotels, shops, etc. Kensington High Street is among the most frantic spots in Greater London and properties several big-time firms. This is actually the perfect place to shop till you drop.

4) Kensington Roof Gardens - One of several biggest roof gardens on earth. Kensington Roof Gardens can be seen from Kensington High Street via the old Derry & Toms department store (which now houses Marks & Spencer, Gap, and H&M). Here you will find a Spanish-style yard, a Tudor-style yard, and an English woodland lawn. The woodland lawn has over 30 kinds of trees, a feat given that these trees only have a meter of soil in which to grow. The Gardens also has a clubhouse and a cafe or restaurant.

Other popular tourist destinations include the Royal College of Music, the Natural Science Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Kensington is a truly history and (dare we say it?) romantic place that's full of life. Pick your lodgings among one of the many Kensington hotels and start touring. Have fun!
