Choosing From The Hotels Pomona Has For Travelers

By Kelsey Benson

The choices among the top hotels Pomona, CA has on offer for visitors can be made in many different ways. Putting all the properties into one basket for comparison is not exactly an optimum method. The key is to find the most suitable location and then the best property within that location.

It's easy because there are just three main locations to consider. The most popular one is the Fairplex area, which attracts more than 1.5 million people every year for the LA County Fair. Cal Poly and the area around the campus is ideal for students and other visitors to the university. Road trippers and tourists are likely to find a downtown location better suited for their needs.

Pomona may not be as big a tourist destination as Los Angeles or Anaheim, but it does have its own pleasant charm as a getaway destination. There are 23 parks, a 250 year old redwood grove, lakes stocked with trout and catfish, and 2,000 acres set aside for recreational activities. Visitors will find plenty of things to do and places to relax and wind down.

This makes the city a popular getaway destination for people from all over Southern California and the nearby big cities. For those coming from Anaheim or Los Angeles, the hotels on West 2nd St or West Holt Ave are convenient. People driving in from Ontario Int'l Airport will find the properties on East Mission Boulevard, East 2nd Street and East Holt Ave to be more to their liking.

The Fairplex Expo Center hosts the LA County Fair each year, a tradition that goes all the way back to 1922 and now draws around 1.5 million people over 18 days. The rush to find accommodations around the Fairplex and Ganesha Park is unbelievable. Every place to stay in the city is booked solid, with hotel rooms in the Fairplex and on both of the San Bernardino Freeway sold out months in advance.

This location is also ideal for year-round business travelers and other event attendees. The hotels have lots of additional meeting space and meeting rooms with audio-visual equipment and other necessities. Plush executive suites are complemented with 24 hour room service, business and fitness centers, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, in-room Wi-Fi, and other facilities and services.

The third location is around the Cal Poly campus. A lot of students stay in this area, so accommodations tend to be on the budget side or of the extended stay type. However, parents, educators and business travelers who have meetings at Cal Poly or DeVry University can just as easily stay in the W. Holt Ave and W. 2nd St. Properties that are more downtown and upscale.

It may be easier to just look at the reviews and choose one from amongst the top hotels Pomona offers, regardless of location. But location makes a difference after people land up here. Do a bit of planning and choose the right place to stay to make the trip more comfortable and convenient.
