Cherokee Camping Tent For The Adventure-Lovers

By William Bell

For those of you yearning to spend time in the outdoors, camping tents are a must have and a worthwhile investment. Camping gives you the wonderful opportunity to be with nature and soak in all its grandeur. Those who regularly camp usually invest in superior quality camping tents. Buying tents is a challenge if you do not know what to look for when you buy camping tents. Cherokee camping tent is the place you are going to rest in to protect yourself from animals and harsh weather conditions; so it is extremely important to choose one with care.

Personal preferences dictate the size of your camping tents. It is important to check the height specification before deciding, since this will determine whether you can sit, kneel or stand inside your canopy. If you need to stand in your canopy it is best to purchase a canopy at least 7' high. On the other hand some people want to be close and cozy therefore will require a much smaller canopy. However, it is wise to purchase a canopy greater than your anticipated needs.

There are special domes designed for severe weather, for example, the tunnel dome which looks like a roll with hoops inside. Those who are planning to travel to Mt. Everest would be well-advised to consider this type of shelter. If you're thinking about a camping trip with your family and you'd like more headroom than a dome canopy, you might want to look closely at a cabin dome.

Camp tents come in four basic shapes: A-Frame tents are freestanding, lightweight, simple construction and offer good ventilation. They are normally small and sleep two to three people, but floor space is poorly utilized. Dome tents are constructed from a canopy pole frame and lightweight fabric. They are simple to erect and are freestanding, utilizing guy ropes to keep the canopy in place. They have a large internal space.

A disadvantage to a cabin dome is that you will most likely need more than one person to set up the dome. Cabin domes can be quite heavy, perhaps 40 or 50 pounds, and will require several dome poles. However, if you are planning to spend a lot of time inside due to weather or bugs, it may be just the solution you are looking for.

Ensure that seams of the tents are double-stitched and folded with seam sealers that are easily available in stores selling tent supplies. The canopy should have a rain fly that allows water to flow down the canopy sides. Good waterproofing capabilities are what you must look for even if that means spending a few extra bucks. Heavy duty zippers are a must because these are going to be regularly used. One-piece tub floor made of waterproof material and without any seams so that water does not leak in your camp tents.

Buy camp tents which are relatively simple to erect especially if you are a first-time camper. The canopy you buy should ideally not take you hours to set up or dismantle. When out for camp with kids, buying a second canopy makes sense - this will give them a place to play in and can be used doubly to store children's toys, food and other clothing. Ensure that your canopy supplies are of good and long lasting quality, preferably with aluminum or fiberglass poles.

You will want to consider a few factors, including what type of weather you will need your dome to be able to withstand. For example, if you are planning a camping and fishing trip in the middle of July in a cold area, then you will not need to buy a dome that can withstand snow and blizzard conditions. Bear in mind that your large camping tent will need to provide ventilation for your weather conditions, as well as possible rain protection.
